Long known by the mountaineers of early America, locals will tell you that the Black Mountain Bearwolf is as real as canned bread, red chiggers, and the occasional UFO. In fact, police and newspapers have received so many reports of a "large, snarling, wolf-like creature with bear characteristics" that an entire storage unit is dedicated to the sightings. Close encounters with the beast are rare, and the Bearwolf has never been known to attack.
