The Montford Park Mothchild was a strange moth-like humanoid creature found dead near Montford Park by a jogger in mid February 2007. The cause of death of the creature was determined to be hypothermia, and investigators pointed to signs that the creature had emerged early due to unseasonable weather, only to be caught off guard by a cold snap. The bizarre mothchild measured three feet long. This is the only known sighting of such a creature near Asheville, though similar accounts exist in parts of Eastern Europe, most notably after the end of World War II.
